A special assembly will be held this Friday, November 22 at 8:00 am at Circle View Elementary in recognition of the school receiving the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools Award in Washington, D.C. last week. The recognition is based on the school’s outstanding academic performance and Circle View is one of only 362 schools nationwide to be selected as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2019. “As a National Blue Ribbon School, your school demonstrates what is possible when committed educators hold all students and staff to high standards and create vibrant, innovative cultures of teaching and learning,” stated U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. Local dignitaries along with Ocean View School District board members and administrators will recognize Circle View Elementary for its tremendous accomplishment at the special celebration on November 22. “It was thrilling to go to Washington, D.C. and have Circle View acknowledged as one of the very best schools in the United States. This honor is a testament to our teachers’ expertise in challenging students and the great partnership that exists between our families, students, and the school staff,” said Dr. Carol Hansen, Superintendent of Ocean View School District. Circle View students have the opportunity to participate in Ocean View’s exclusive Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Magnet Program, which attracts families and students from inside and outside the District boundaries. Students master challenging content, teachers provide innovative and engaging lessons and the school offers many supplemental programs, including art and field trips.
