Kennedy Nguyen, a Lake View third grader, has been recognized as a local winner and is now entered into the national competition for a trip to Minnesota to be recognized by Hormel Food. She and several Lake View runners-up – Elizabeth Cervantes, Ashely Rodriguez, Vincent Vo, and Juniper Austin – read their essays on Friday morning in front of several representatives from Hormel Food. Miss Nguyen will receive a gift card, class party, and school supplies to acknowledge her writing the winning essay.

Lake View Principal Jamie Goodwyn is thrilled for these third graders. “This is a wonderful way to recognize our students for their outstanding academic skills and reinforce their success.” She is also grateful for the opportunity her school has been given, not only to connect with Hormel as a community partner, but also to recognize the importance of diversity in all facets of life. “We are celebrating diversity and the impact that Dr. King made on our younger generations,” said Mrs. Goodwyn.
