Make-A-Wish Brings Added Joy to Harbour View Jog-A-Thon

Mesa View student and Harbour View alumna, Abigail, received the surprise of her life at Harbour View‘s March 17th Jog-A-Thon. Abigail was born with a heart condition and has endured three open-heart surgeries and additional operations throughout her short life. Despite all of this, she is a dedicated student in OVSD and she loves to learn about politics.

Superintendent Carol Hansen helped kick off the jog-a-thon event with Principal Cindy Osterhout and was grateful to be a part of this year’s big surprise – a special presentation by the Make-A-Wish organization. Huntington Beach Mayor Barbara Delgleize spoke briefly to Harbour View students, staff and families, and then she revealed that Abigail was there, not to present a donation check, but instead to be honored and given her ultimate “wish,” a trip to Washington, D.C. to learn about politics close-up! Abigail was accompanied by her family and a close friend from Mesa View, Katie, our second place Oratorical winner.

Here's a brief video of the Make-A-Wish presentation.
