'Links to Learning' Awarded to 87 OVSD Teachers
The Board Meeting, held at Spring View Middle School, had a celebratory atmosphere as 87 Ocean View School District teachers received a total of $38,489.45 in “Links to Learning” awards from the Assistance League of Huntington Beach. Board President Gina Clayton-Tarvin, Superintendent Carol Hansen and Assistance League "Links to Learning" Chair Linda Chrisman presented each winner with a check and Certificate of Recognition. The awards support educational programs in fine arts, math, science, language arts, physical education, and technology. Class field trips and camps are also being funded related to science and social studies. This year, teachers from 14 OVSD schools received funding, and more are encouraged to participate in coming years!
“The Assistance League of Huntington Beach is dedicated to supporting classroom teachers and their students in our community,” said Ms. Chrisman, as she encouraged more teachers to seek the monetary awards next year.
“This is a record number of awards for our teachers,” said Superintendent Carol Hansen. “I am proud of our teachers for taking the initiative to seek support for their innovative ideas, and I am grateful to the Assistance League of Huntington Beach for their continued support of our teachers. The fact that we are celebrating innovation, determination, safety, and community through multiple recognitions at this Board Meeting is a positive commentary about the direction we are taking in OVSD.”
