Subject: Return to School & Free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests
Dear OVSD Parents,
We hope you have enjoyed the winter holidays and break. We will be returning to school, as scheduled, on Monday, January 3, 2022. We were hoping to receive a supply of free COVID-19 rapid antigen tests for students from the California Department of Public Health before our return to school, but weather delays have prevented delivery in time. We do anticipate receiving the tests early next week and we plan to have them available for pick up at each of our schools. When the tests are available, we will send another communication.
While COVID-19 tests are not mandatory for students, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity for a little extra peace of mind as we navigate this stage of the pandemic. Moreover, the steps we take together can help ensure the safest possible learning environment for all of our students.
The state has developed flyers in English and Spanish that explain when to test your child and what steps to take if you get a positive test result. More information can be found on the CDPH website.
Please continue to monitor your child for any COVID-19 symptoms and keep them home if they are exhibiting any symptoms. Please be advised that our schools will still be following all COVID-19 safety protocols, including mask wearing indoors. We appreciate your support in helping us provide a safe environment in our schools and we wish you all the best for a happy and healthy new year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Carol Hansen, Superintendent
Gina Clayton-Tarvin, President, Board of Trustees
