Pennies for Patients Means Smiles for Oak View

Oak View students with donation check Earlier this year, our Oak View Student Council members distributed collection boxes to each classroom for our Pennies for Patients drive. They explained to each class that we were collecting change for children who were in the hospital with blood cancer. We held the drive for two weeks, during which time student council emptied classroom boxes and helped organize and count the change.

At the end of the drive, we had collected thousands of coins and hundreds of bills. The final count of all monies collected was $2,408! Student Council presented our school with a “check” that was donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the Patriotic Assembly on April 25th. We are so proud of our school and how much kindness they showed by collecting so much for this worthy cause.
