Ocean View School District Addresses Misinformation Regarding Glen View Property

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Following its Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, August 11, the Ocean View School District has been working to address local concerns about the future of the former Glen View school property (6621 Glen Drive, Huntington Beach, CA 92647).

The Glen View site, which ceased public school operations in 1985, has been the target of online speculation and misinformation concerning development.

“The Ocean View School District prides itself on transparency and public accountability,” said Superintendent Dr. Julianne Hoefer.  As Board President Gina Clayton-Tarvin stated at the August 11 meeting, “The Board has not provided direction or taken action regarding the development of Glen View property.”  We appreciate the community’s outreach for clarification, and the District is proactively working to correct the record and alleviate residents’ concerns.

As reported by The Daily Pilot in June, the Ocean View School District is focused on the development of two other district properties in Huntington Beach: Sun View (7721 Juliette Low Drive) and Pleasant View (16692 Landau Lane). District representatives expect to release further details about those projects in the coming weeks and months. However, the District does not have plans to begin evaluating the potential for development of Glen View.

“We understand that residents care deeply about their neighborhoods, our schools, and District property. We welcome community participation when those discussions take place. What we ask in the meantime is that the community distinguish between concerns about unfounded rumors and decisions the Board has actually made,” said Board President Gina Clayton-Tarvin.
