Ocean View School District Launches Free After-School Childcare for All Students

Ocean View School District (OVSD) will launch free after-school childcare for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade students enrolled in the District starting in the 2025–26 school year. This new service will support families by providing a safe and convenient option for students after the regular school day ends until 6:00 p.m.

Board Trustee Area Maps

As Ocean View School District continues to explore a new system for electing Board members, the Board of Trustees will consider, select, and approve a trustee area map during the May 13, 2025, OVSD Board of Trustees’ Meeting. Currently, under the at-large election system, all voters within the District can vote for all five Board Members. With the transition to a by-trustee area election system, beginning in November 2026, voters will elect one Trustee who resides within their designated geographic area.

OVSD Middle School Sports Program Offers Variety And Fun

The Ocean View School District (OVSD) offers a robust after-school sports program designed to engage middle school students in physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition. Available at Marine View, Mesa View, and Vista View Middle Schools, the program includes cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track and field, giving students the opportunity to develop their athletic skills across a variety of sports.

The Growth of Vista View's Dance Program

Vista View Middle School continually seeks innovative teachers who can tap into the needs and interests of its students. For the 2023-2024 school year, teacher Jenessa Wood started a dance program facilitated through PE standards, as well as a dance team that rehearsed after school. The dance program was created in response to student survey data in the spring of 2023, where our Falcons expressed their love for dance and their desire for a dance class at Vista View.
