Principal's Welcome Message

  • Hello to all my Eagles!  It is with real excitement that I welcome all our Mesa View Eagles back to school for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are new to Mesa, you will soon find that Mesa View has an enthusiastic and collaborative community of staff and parents.  I have served as Principal for the last 4 years, and am thrilled to continue serving as we move forward to the next Chapter for Mesa View - a modernized school site in 2024-2025.

Students, you are the reason I come to work everyday - helping ensure all students find success and feel valued is my ultimate goal as an educator and truly encompasses all the work I do.  And this staff genuinely cares about student success and looks at the whole student and their overall well-being.  As we plan a year at the Interim School Site (formerly Sun View), I look forward to working together with staff, students and families in a collaborative effort as we continue the work of building students’ capacity for learning and growth.

I need to take a moment to thank our amazing volunteer network here at Mesa.  This school is fortunate to have a very supportive PTSO, as well as an engaged and involved partnership with families and community members.  Through the year last year, we had volunteers in our garden, classes, campus, and through numerous events and staff appreciation efforts.  We know there are some pillars of the HB community here at Mesa, and we love partnering to ultimately enrich the already stellar academic program at Mesa View.

When I came to Ocean View in 2018, I started by serving as the Assistant Principal of Vista View Middle School and had such a wonderful experience working with their staff and getting to know all the staff at OVSD.  I learned quickly that student learning is at the core of all that we do here at OVSD and that relationships truly do matter here. I have nearly two decades of experience as an educator, 9 years in the classroom as a high school Advanced Placement English Teacher and ASB advisor, 5 years serving in various Assistant Principal roles in Fullerton Joint Union High School District and here in Ocean View, and then these last wonderful 4 years as Principal at Mesa View.

I value family, community, creativity, building and maintaining positive relationships, and life-long learning.  A little more about me - I attended Cypress College and CSU, Chico (playing collegiate soccer at both) and earning a BA in English with an Emphsis in Education.  I earned my teaching credential and MA in Educational Leadership from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa.  When I moved to Huntington Beach, I was eager to find a District that would allow me not only to serve my community, and also one where achievement, connections, and results matter--OVSD has certainly fit the bill.  I currently live in Huntington Beach with my husband and our 6 year old daughter.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, going to Disneyland, visiting the beach, being crafty and artistic, reading, and most recently Pickleball!

This year will undoubtedly come with surprises and unknowns along the way as we adjust to a different campus, but if the last four years have taught me anything, it is that together we can accomplish anything.  This community is strong, capable, and unstoppable.  Let's make it a great year, Eagles!
