Navigating the life-changing (and sometimes overwhelming!) years known as “middle school” can be an awkward journey.
We are excited to support your children as they develop into lifelong learners and prepare for high school and beyond. Marine View is a wonderful community with a dedicated staff and amazing families. Together, we can create an accessible and equitable education for every student.

This year marks my seventh year at Marine View Middle School and fifth year as Principal. I am very fortunate to work with such an amazing staff, students, parents and community. The Marine View staff is dedicated to providing a safe environment that fosters higher-level thinking, collaboration, inclusivity, and creativity. I believe middle school is a pivotal point in a student’s educational career and our job is to prepare and guide our students on a path of success into high school and beyond. I am very excited to celebrate the many successes to come! Prior to becoming the Principal at Marine View, I served as the Assistant Principal for two years. When I joined the Marine View team, I brought experience gained while working in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 13 years, where I was a teacher and Assistant Principal. I grew up in the Midwest and attended college at North Dakota State University where I earned my teaching degree. After earning my degree, I moved to Southern California to begin my teaching career and went on to earn my master’s degree in School Administration at Concordia University, Irvine. Outside of my time at Marine View, I enjoy spending time with my family and taking in all the beauty of Southern California.

Greetings, Mariners! My name is Shannon Mudry, and it is my sincere honor to serve as the assistant principal of Marine View Middle School. I have been blessed to call the Ocean View School District my home for many years -- not only as a former student and current employee, but also as a parent. As a child, I attended both Circle View and Spring View. After graduating from Marina High School, my educational journey continued at California State University, Long Beach (Go BEACH!), where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. While teaching in the upper-elementary classroom setting, I continued my education and earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching, specializing in Reading and Multicultural Education.
Growing up in Huntington Beach, I met my husband, Ryan, while we were students at Marina High School. My husband is also a former Ocean View student and, coincidentally, attended Marine View for Grades K-8. He reminds me daily how envious he is that I am a “Mighty Mariner” at his favorite school. Ryan is also an educator, teaching high school physics in the Orange Unified School District. Together, we have three children, who all attend Ocean View schools.
