Transitioning from student to teacher, to administrator, I have spent more than half of my life in the Ocean View School District. As a student, I attended Golden View Elementary School and Mesa View Middle School. My best memories include developing relationships with my peers and teachers, the Mt. SAC relays, and our 8th grade trip to Yosemite. Then, as a teacher, I dedicated myself to not only showing students that, "Everyone is Capable," of achieving success in the classroom, but that all success is secondary to treating each other with RESPECT and KINDNESS. Between my History and Leadership classrooms, I trained and encouraged kids to practice good decision-making regardless of who is watching. My goal was to have students see that we can celebrate our diversity, instead of tolerating them.
Now in the role of Assistant Principal, I have the opportunity to step outside of my classroom, working closely with those who make up the Spring View community. My philosophy of education is to provide a place where ALL students feel welcome and safe to interact, learn, and grow.
When I am not at school, you can find me coaching youth sports teams, snowboarding in our Sierra Nevada Mountains, or surfing along Huntington Beach's coastline. If not there, I am out seeking adventure in the wilderness with my family in our trailer. Hiking, fishing, and camping are my happy places. I love having discussions with people about the destinations they, and I, have traveled. Stop by anytime and let's talk.
I look forward to a year of moving in the right direction with my colleagues, teachers, parents, and students. Spring View is a great place; together we will respect each other's differences, build relationships, and make achievements to be proud of. My commitment to this position parallels with one of my favorite quotes from Abraham Lincoln, "I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end." Let's do this Spartans!
