It is with great pleasure that I join Vista View Middle School as your Assistant Principal for the 2022-2023 school year. Vista View has a strong reputation for innovation, rigor, and academic excellence. Equally strong is a collaborative team effort to support students based on a whole-student approach, offering Tier 1 social-emotional learning along-side Tier 2/3 support as needed.

My career in education began as a parent volunteer and substitute teacher at Beaumont Unified School District. It is there that I completed my student teaching and started teaching at the elementary level, teaching 1st through 5th grades over 10 years. I then moved to the middle school level, where I primarily taught math and science. My last 3 years at BUSD were at the high school level, where I worked as the Building Assets Reducing Risks Coordinator. As the BARR coordinator, I was able to support the ninth-grade teacher teams through a purposeful, collaborative, value-based process. This position afforded me the opportunity to work closely with district and school leadership, teachers, families, and community members to produce student success for nearly 900 freshmen students. Further, I have had opportunities to perform as Admin Designee at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. I currently hold a Bachelors in Business; a Masters in Education; and am currently a Doctoral Candidate for an Ed.D in Leadership for Educational Justice. In July 2021, I relocated to Huntington Beach and took the position as Assistant Principal at Nicolas Junior High School in Fullerton. This experience afforded me the opportunity to partner with our staff's leadership teams, teachers, students, parents, district, and stakeholders to establish systems and facilitate our day-to-day operations. Now, as I work alongside our professional staff members at Vista View JH, I remain committed to ensuring the care, welfare, and safety of our students while focusing on a top-notched learning environment.

As newly married, I love hanging out with my husband as well as my two young-adult daughters and other ohana as well. Also, in my free time, you will find me checking out the local hiking trails, running along the beach, dancing hula with my family, or swimming and yoga at our local gyms. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area and simply said, I love this community!

Last, I would like to thank you for the very warm welcome that I have received since starting at Vista View and I look forward to meeting all of our students, families, and community members. Please feel free to reach out if I may be of service to you.

    Warmly,

    Ku’uipo Koahou
