• Julie Nichols Dear Parents and Students,

It is with great enthusiasm and honor that I serve the Marine View Community as the Assistant Principal for the 2020-2021 school year.  This will be my 9th year with the Ocean View School District, and my second year serving as an administrator. I have proudly served as a special education teacher and more recently as the Assistant Principal at Vista View Middle School. Prior to being in the Ocean View School District, I worked as a preschool teacher in Eugene, Oregon, as an elementary teacher at Orangewood Children’s Home, working with displaced children, and teaching incarcerated minors at the Orange County Juvenile Hall. My experiences have taught me that all students have the ability and desire to learn with the guidance of devoted and compassionate teachers.

Personally, I was born in Busan, South Korea and immigrated to the United States so I could have the chance to be educated and experience the “American Dream”. I attended high school in Huntington Beach and graduated from the University of California, Irvine (Zot Zot), where I met my supportive husband of 26 wonderful years. I have two lovely grown daughters, Emma (21) working on her MBA in San Francisco and Alyssa (19) studying Economics in Spain.  During my free time, I love to cook (and eat), take ballroom dance lessons, and travel around the world. My family and I are devoted fans of soccer, especially Barcelona Futbol Club.

The old African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” cannot be more true today.  Clear communication, high expectations, and supporting the whole child will guide students to become caring and productive members of our community. It is my hope that parents, staff, and students actively work together to better our school, the community, and the world in which we live. 2020-2021 is going to be a great adventure!

    Julie Nichols
