    Welcome Mariners!

My name is Julie Nichols and I am so thrilled to return to Marine View as your Assistant Principal for the third year.  I look forward to developing relationships with our community, inspiring our students and collaborating with our brilliant teachers this 2022-2023 school year. Prior to my work in the Ocean View School District, I worked as a preschool teacher in Eugene, Oregon, as an elementary teacher at Orangewood Children’s Home (working with displaced children) and teaching incarcerated minors at the Orange County Juvenile Hall. My experiences have taught me that all students have the ability and desire to learn with the guidance of devoted and compassionate educators.

Personally, I was born in Busan, South Korea and immigrated to the United States so I could have the opportunities to be educated and experience the “American Dream”. I attended Edison High School in Huntington Beach and graduated from the University of California, Irvine (Zot Zot), where I met my supportive husband of 28 wonderful years. I have two lovely grown daughters, Emma (23) who has recently earned her MBA in San Francisco and Alyssa (21) studying Economics in Madrid, Spain.  During my free time, I love to cook (and eat), take dance classes, and travel around the world. My most recent travels have taken me to Ireland and England.

Clear communication, high expectations, and supporting the whole child (physically, mentally, and socially) will guide our students to become caring and productive members of our community. I look forward to working collaboratively for the betterment of our students and community.  “There is a brilliant child locked inside every student”- Marva Collins.
