Mrs. Elizabeth Pavloff

I obtained my teaching credential in 2003 and have taught in Ocean View School District since 2007.  I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade.  I live in the Ocean View School District with my husband Ed and we have been married 32 years.  My 3 children have attended Village View and Marine View schools.  They have all graduated from Marina High School.  My youngest son is starting at UCLA this year.  I enjoy gardening, traveling, solving puzzles, and playing with my dog Georgia.

In fifth grade, your child will be reading and comparing multiple complex texts, learning about how figurative language creates a more interesting narrative, and integrating technology throughout their day.  In math, students will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions!  Knowing basic multiplication facts are key!  We also learn about the reasons the 13 colonies were established, why there was a revolution, and how the Constitution was establish.  Science takes the students into the watery planet, up through the solar system, and back down to mixtures and states of matter and compare.

What makes 5th grade such a unique experience at Oak View is our electives - we have a dedicated art teacher, computer science teacher, and a robotics teacher.  We take multiple field trips throughout the year to expose students to all STEAM fields:  Griffith Observatory, Art Museum, Environmental Nature Center, and Segerstrom Performing Arts, just to name a few.  We are going to science camp for the first time this year. As a 5th grade team, we believe in preparing all our students for middle school and beyond!
