Transfers

All schools in the Ocean View School District offer rigorous, research-based instructional programs, which are designed to meet the needs of their students. Each year, OVSD gives parents the opportunity to transfer to elementary or middle schools within or into the District to meet families' unique needs. These transfers are approved based on space availability and site capacity.

Intradistrict Transfers for the 24-25 school year will be accepted beginning February 1, 2024.

Interdistrict Transfers for the 24-25 school year will be accepted beginning March 1, 2024.

*25-26 school year Intradistrict and Interdistrict transfers will open up in February 1st and March 1st, 2025, respectively.

Intradistrict Transfer

In an effort to streamline the processing of Intradistrict Transfer Requests, OVSD uses an electronic means to receive, process and update parents regarding Intradistrict Transfers. Once a request is received, an automated email confirmation is sent to the parent.

2024-2025 Intradistrict Transfer Requests (current students)

Requests for current OVSD students who moved are currently being accepted.

*Requests will be processed and notifications will be emailed.

2024-2025 Intradistrict Transfer Requests (new students)

Requests for new students in OVSD will be accepted beginning February 1, 2024.

*Requests will be processed and notifications will be emailed. TK requests for the 24-25 school year will be processed through the Educational Services Office.

Your request can be submitted through the Parent Portal at portal.ovsd.org. Once logged in, please click on the link for Intradistrict Transfers at the top, and complete and submit your request.

*Please note we only process transfers for grades TK-8. For any high school transfers, please refer to your high school district.

Steps to submit an intradistrict transfer

We will be accepting Interdistrict Transfer Requests for the 2024-2025 school year beginning March 1, 2024. *We will be accepting Interdistrict Transfer Requests for the 2025-2026 school year beginning March 1, 2025.

Incoming Transfers: For students who want to attend our District, this process starts with your district of residence. Please be prepared to provide one proof of residency with your approved request from another district.

Outgoing Transfers: Please be prepared to provide supporting documents (Parent Employment, Child Care or other) when submitting your request to attend another district.

*An appeal of an Interdistrict Transfer Request denial is accepted if submitted in writing within 10 days of the denial notification. If after the Administrative Panel renders a decision, and an appeal to the Ocean View School District Board of Trustees is requested, the appeal request must be submitted to the Student Services office within 10 days of the Panel decision. An appeal to the Orange County Department of Education may be requested after appealing to the Ocean View School District Administrative Panel and Board of Trustees.
