Volunteer Information

We greatly appreciate your interest in becoming a volunteer in the Ocean View School District!

Look for an automated email notification from Raptor titled APPLICATION RECEIVED. This email is confirmation of your application being submitted. 

Volunteer applications are reviewed in the order they are received. If additional information or updates are needed to process your application, the District Volunteer Coordinator will contact you. Please be sure to monitor both your inbox and spam folder to ensure you do not miss any important communications.

Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email from Raptor confirming your approval and providing your renewal date.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, all volunteer clearances must be renewed annually to remain an active and approved volunteer. During the summer, all RAPTOR volunteer accounts will be deactivated. Individuals wishing to volunteer must submit a new Volunteer Application each school year to reactivate their volunteer status.

The annual renewal allows volunteers to update their personal information and select the school site(s) where they wish to volunteer.

Please note that some requirements must be renewed annually, while others remain valid for a longer period:

• Mandated Reporter Training must be completed each school year.
• Tuberculosis (TB) clearance is valid for four years and only needs to be renewed when it expires.
• Fingerprint clearances do not expire and do not need to be completed again once they have been approved by the District.

No. The California Department of Justice (DOJ) does not allow fingerprint results to be shared or transferred between organizations. Even if you have completed a Live Scan for another school district, employer, or volunteer organization, you must complete a new Live Scan using the District's Live Scan Request Form to volunteer with OVSD.

Once you have completed a Live Scan for OVSD and have been approved, your fingerprint clearance does not expire and does not need to be repeated for future volunteer applications with the district. If you need a copy of the District's Live Scan Form, please contact the District Volunteer Coordinator.

California Senate Bill 848 requires that volunteers whose duties require direct contact with and supervision of children to be Mandated Reporters. Annual training on mandated reporting requirements related to child abuse will be provided in an online course on the District's training system, ASCIP E-Learning .

After you complete your Volunteer Application, you will receive an email from ASCIP notifying you that you have been assigned the training. The email will include a link with instructions to set up your ASCIP E-Learning account and access the course.

Once you have completed the training, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. You may either email your certificate to the District Volunteer Coordinator or provide it to your school site office. The certificate will then be uploaded to your volunteer application record.
