Ocean View School District (OVSD) is considering a new system for electing Board Members. Currently, under the “At-Large election” system, all voters within District boundaries can vote for all five Board Members. With the transition to “By-Trustee Area elections,” voters will elect one Trustee whose home address is within the same designated geographic area as the voter.
While this shift changes how Board Members are elected, it will not affect:
- School boundaries
- School services, programs, and resources
- OVSD’s commitment to providing educational excellence
Proposed Maps (Updated March 31, 2025)
As Ocean View School District continues to explore a new system for electing Board members, the proposed trustee area maps will be presented and discussed during the April 8, 2025, OVSD Board of Trustees Meeting. The presentation will provide context for the proposed changes and offer an opportunity for continued community input. Currently, under the at-large election system, all voters within the District can vote for all five Board Members. With the transition to a by-trustee area election system, voters will elect one Trustee who resides within their designated geographic area. The suggested trustee-area maps are available for review below:

Public hearings play a key role in the transition process, offering valuable opportunities for community voices to be heard. The first of three hearings took place during the OVSD Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, March 25. The second is scheduled for the April 8 Board meeting, where community input will continue to be gathered. We encourage all community members to attend and share their feedback on the development of the trustee area maps.
Those who are unable to attend in person may submit feedback through the Community Input Form. Feedback must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on April 8. Additionally, the meeting will be available to watch online.
