Welcome

  • Principal BiancoHello Westmont Families,

My name is Diana Bianco, and I am both excited and honored to be your new principal.  I am looking forward to getting to know the Westmont students, parents and staff in the 23-24 school year. A little about myself is that I have been married to my husband Michael for 28 years, and we have two grown children.  Our daughter, Arliana (24) is working as an international marketing specialist for a cosmetic company and our son, Anthony (20) is starting his junior year at Chapman University, where he is studying business. We are also parents to 3 very spoiled dogs.  In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with my family, and, believe it or not, working, because I have a passion for what I do.

My background in education spans over 30 years. After receiving a BA in Liberal Studies with a Communication Minor and a K-12 Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University of Long Beach, I started working in ABC Unified School District as an elementary school teacher. I then became a program coordinator where I worked with the staff to transform our campus into a visual and performing arts magnet school. While attending the University of LaVerne, where I earned my Masters in Education and my Administrative Services Credential, I obtained a position as an elementary assistant principal for which I held 4 years.  I was then hired by Centralia Elementary School District and served as an elementary principal for 6 years.  Following my tenure as a principal, I took a break from full-time employment to be a mom, but continued working in education at Brea Olinda Unified School District in various capacities.  When I decided to return to full-time employment, I went back into the classroom as a teacher, then as a K-12 Program Interventionist at the district level, where I worked to implement systems for intervention and plan for professional development.

This next step in my journey at Ocean View School District has already started out so positive.  I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend some time on the Westmont campus prior to the end of the school year, where I met the staff, learned more about the VAPA program, visited classrooms and most importantly talked with the students.  It gave me great pleasure to have such a warm welcome.   I can tell already that Westmont is a school that cultivates positivity and builds relationships that promote student growth.  I look forward to continuing to move the school forward in making students feel safe, valued and respected and allowing them the opportunities to grow academically, socially and behaviorally. I am eager to learn more about the wonderful things that are already happening at Westmont and I am proud to be the leader of this wonderful school.

    Much gratitude,

    Mrs. Diana Bianco
