Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Vista! We are thrilled to have all our Falcon family back as we embark on another exciting academic journey. This year presents us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our achievements and strive for continuous improvement.
At Vista View, we take great pride in our inclusive and dynamic school community. Our mission is to create a nurturing environment that caters to the diverse needs of all our students. Currently, we offer three outstanding programs to meet the varying requirements of our students with special needs, a GATE magnet program, elective courses that align with high school, vocational, and college pathways, and a dedicated staff committed to celebrating the unique qualities of each Falcon.
As we move forward, we are excited to introduce new programs to enhance the educational experience even further. Starting this year, our 6th-grade students will have access to an engaging robotics program. Additionally, we are introducing the "Best Buddies" initiative, a dance-based physical education program, a culinary baking class, and further enriching our garden with sustainable practices and farm to table cooking.
One of our notable achievements has been the expansion of our GATE classes, which now encompass students from 6th to 8th grade. We are proud to announce that our geometry course has seen an impressive enrollment of over 32 students.
Our commitment to providing exceptional programming builds on the success of our teachers' hard work, resulting in several prestigious awards. In 2021, Vista earned the California Distinguished School Award, followed by the Pivotal Practice Award in 2022, and the Schools to Watch Award in 2023. Furthermore, our speech and debate team garnered high honors at local competitions and hosted their inaugural competition at Vista in the spring of 2023. Notably, our esports team secured an impressive second place in the EGFH Chess National Championships in June of 2023.
Our Vista Falcons truly SOAR, and we aim to reach even greater academic heights and excel in our extracurricular pursuits during the 2023-2024 school year. Together, as a close-knit community, we will continue to celebrate our achievements and embrace the spirit of growth and progress. We aim to make this year one to remember as we learn, grow, and SOAR together at Vista!
All the best,
Dr. Gates, Principal
