It was my pleasure to visit Westmont Elementary School along with our school site visitation team which included Trustee Debbie Cotton, Assistant Superintendent Kathy Frazier, Assistant Superintendent Mark Schiel and Student Services Senior Director Elizabeth Williams. We joined Principal Carol Furman on a tour of the school, visiting classrooms where we saw students and their teachers hard at work using many strategies, including GLAD, Bubble Maps and Differentiated Instruction. We appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from staff during recess about how these various learning strategies being used in the classroom are affecting student achievement. We were able to observe how Mrs. Furman and her staff are doing many great things for students at Westmont.
